About
My Professional Background
I graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2022 (finishing online from Portland) with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. I have 5+ years of experience tutoring, and I have worked with students from a wide range of backgrounds, abilities, and learning styles.
I first started tutoring my peers at my university. I led small study groups in Calculus, Intro to Computer Science, and Foundations of Analysis. About 5 years ago, I had my first official student, a friend who needed help with college Algebra. I tutored more friends and acquaintance in Algebra, Applied Statistics, and more.
When I moved to Portland, I found a job as an instructor at a math tutoring center where I worked with students from K-12. Within a few months, I was promoted to Lead Instructor. While I learned a wide array of teaching techniques there, I felt that the high student-instructor ratio did not meet the needs of the students.
I opted to seek out one-on-one tutoring again, starting with friends of friends and branching out to school-aged children through word-of-mouth recommendations. So far, I have achieved great results and look forward to continuing success.
My Personal Background
I was born and raised in south Texas. I grew up bilingual in English and Spanish. I moved to Portland in 2021 to be with my platonic life partner of 10 years.
Some of my interests include board games, video games, classical singing, piano, musical transcription, cooking, and organizing game nights and birthday parties.
